Employment Background Check

Conducting an employment background check on your applicant can be one of the most frustrating experiences you’ll ever have as an employer. To make an informed hiring decision, you must have complete information. Businesses are painfully aware that passing on any derogatory information can often lead to legal action. Company policy now consists of "name, rank and serial number." ERS-NW conducts a thorough investigation. Often, the applicant’s former supervisor has left the company, relocated and does not feel bound by the company policy. By using a series of specifically designed questions, our interviewers are able to obtain a “true” picture of your prospective employee.

The types of information obtained may include: dates of employment, leadership abilities, management skills, disciplinary history, termination reason, eligibility for rehire, reliability, trustworthiness, job performance, attitude, work skills and record of attendance.

Processing Information

In order to process the Previous Employment profile accurately and to give you enough information to evaluate the applicant, the following information is crucial:

  • Names of Employers
  • Dates of Employment
  • Positions Held
  • Locations of Employers (City, State or Facility Number)
  • Telephone Numbers
  • Supervisor’s Name and Telephone Number
  • Social Security Number (For Identification Purposes Only)

When requesting a Previous Employment profile, please review the application to make sure this information is included in a legible fashion. Additional information supplied by the applicant is often beneficial in compiling a comprehensive profile and should be submitted. ERS-NW profiles are subject to the quality and quantity of the data provided by the applicant.

Our Policies

  • Permission to contact present/current employers will be requested on the release and may also be on the application. We will contact present/current employers unless specifically requested not to.
  • We will verify the last five (5) years of employment.
  • If we obtain additional information after a completed profile has been sent, a Supplemental Report will be issued with the additional information.

While we have standard policies and procedures, we also provide customized profiles. Please speak with your customer service or marketing representative to make the changes you need.
